PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out a recording process to a medium to be recorded which is wider than a recorder. SOLUTION: Recording data for converting information transmitted from an external device to recording data conforming to the configuration of a recording head on a carriage is generated. An arrangement of data transfer units is converted so as to control a transfer order of the recording data. MSB information and LSB information for determining a transfer range of the recording data having the arrangement converted correspondingly to each of recording regions of the medium to be recorded are added to the recording data. The recording data is transferred to the recording head on the basis of the added MSB information and the LSB information corresponding to the recording regions. For the recording process to the medium to be recorded which is wider than the recorder, a first transfer and a second transfer are combined in the transfer process. In the first transfer, first MSB information is set to be a transfer start point and first LSB information is set to be a transfer end point in a descending order. In the second transfer, second LSB information is set to be the transfer start point and second MSB information is set to be the transfer end point in an ascending order.
