PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a screw tightening method and device that can reduce a burden on a worker and shorten working time by ensuring accurate tightening up to and inspection of target torque. SOLUTION: A servomotor 2 is used for high-speed rotation as a temporary tightening process up to seating torque from a start of screw tightening, and then in a servo lock state, a worker manually operates a tightening machine body 1 for manual tightening as a complete tightening process up to target torque. In the tightening machine body 1, turning force is transmitted from the servomotor 2 to a socket 5 via a torque detector 3 and a transmission gear mechanism 4, and an electric signal from a resolver 6 for converting a turning angle of a rotor of the servomotor 2 to an electric signal, and a detection torque signal from the torque detector 3 are amplified in an amplifier 7 and supplied to a controller 9, which in turn controls the servomotor 2.
