1,133,014. Embedded resistance heating elements. COLFICO S.A. 28 July, 1966 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 34044/66. Heading H5H. A heating surface for walls, roadways and the like comprises beds of synthetic resin hardened by polymerization, at least one electrical heating element disposed in the interior of the resin and at least one metallic structure disposed in the interior of the resin substantially parallel to the heating element, the metallic structure being electrically insulated from the element and electrically connected to earth. A process of fabricating the surface comprises the steps of applying a first bed of the resin hardenable in air to a support, placing a heater element on this first bed, covering the element by a second bed of synthetic resin, disposing a metallic structure on the second bed, covering the metallic structure by a third bed of synthetic resin, allowing the resin to harden and connecting the metallic structure to earth. The heating element may be formed by a fabric of glass including a heating lattice. The metallic structure may comprise a metal sheet such as aluminium perforated to form a grill, or it may comprise a lattice or metallic fabric or a discontinuous bed of fine metal particles. The resin may comprise two components: an enamel such as mecaryl amide (versamide) and a curing agent or hardener such as an epoxy resin. The surface may be applied to a road or wall, with the metallic structure located between the heating element and the free surface. |
