PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide proper humidity controllability and an energy saving effect on wide temperature humidity conditions, under simple and low-cost device constitution. SOLUTION: A humidifier comprises a humidifying container 1, formed such that surface areas F differ from each other, based on a water level h; large- and small-sized heaters 22 and 21 placed inside the humidifier; a water-level varying means 3 consisting of a tank 342, a float switch 33, water feed and discharge solenoid valves 35 and 37, a water level selecting part 38, and a water level control part 39; and an operation means consisting of a humidifying heater selecting part 41 and a humidity control part 44. For example, in a low-temperature low-humidity condition, the water level in the humidifying container is varied to be set to a low water level h1 , the small heater 21 is selected by the operation means 4 for operation, and naturally vaporized amount from the humidifying container is decreased, and stabilized low humidity control and energy saving operation can be made. Since the humidifying container and the water level control system are single, the structure is simple and is low cost.
