PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compound that gives an excellent moisture-retention and touch and maintains moisture-retention and softness for long time even after the contact with water and sweat and laundry and cosmetics and a finishing agent for clothes containing the compound. SOLUTION: The cosmetics and finishing agent for clothes contain a polyalkylene oxide (co)polymer containing a cationic group having repeat units represented by general formulas (I) and/or (II) (wherein R<1> , R<2> and R<3> are each a hydrogen atom or a 1-12C hydrocarbon group which may be same or different; a is an integer of 1-12; and X<-> is a halogen ion or an organic anion).
