PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming material from which an image is efficiently formed at a low cost and an image forming method using the image forming material and enabling formation of an image by a simple operation at a low cost. SOLUTION: The image forming material has a photosensitive material A having a layer containing an azomethine dye precursor of formula (1) and/or formula (2), a polymerizable compound and a photopolymerization initiator on a support and a dye forming material A having a layer containing a deprotecting agent which acts on the azomethine dye precursor to form an azomethine dye on a support. In the formula (1), Ar is an aromatic ring or a heterocycle; X is a divalent group which lines C and N together; and Cp is a coupler residue. In the formula (2), Ar is an aromatic ring or a heterocycle; Cp is a coupler residue; L<1> is a protective group; and L<2> is H or a substituent which is released in a dye forming process. |
