PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow unattended continuous drive without choking of an ink. SOLUTION: An ink-jet printer comprises an ink supplying needle 3 for supplying an ink to the recording head 2 side, and a plurality of ink containers 1 for storing the ink, for supplying the ink from the ink containers 1 to the recording head 2 side by piercing the ink supplying needle 3 in one of the plurality of the ink containers 1, wherein an ink exhaustion detecting means for detecting exhaustion of the ink in the ink container 1 pierced by the ink supplying needle 3, and a moving means for moving relatively the ink supplying needle 3 and the plurality of the ink containers 1 are provided so that the ink container 1 storing the ink to be supplied to the recording head 2 side can be replaced by piercing the ink supplying needle 3 to another ink container 1 among the plurality of the ink containers 1 by moving the ink supplying needle 3 and/or the plurality of the ink containers 1 by the moving means based on detection of the exhaustion of the ink by the ink exhaustion detecting means. |
