PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a balance shaft for an internal combustion engine capable of reducing size and weight and simplifying a device composition of the internal combustion engine without having to particularly provide an accessory such as an oil pump or a complicated lubricant feed path for feeding lubricant to a bearing of the balance shaft. SOLUTION: The balance shaft 1 is driven by a crankshaft 3 for reducing vibration of the internal combustion engine 2 and provided with a borne part rotatably supported by the bearing, an oil hole 21 bored in a shaft center for feeding the lubricant to the borne part, and a communication passage 23 providing a communicating state between the oil hole 21 and a balance shaft 1 exterior. The balance shaft 1 is characterized in that the bearing is lubricated by arranging an opening 24 to the exterior in the communication passage 23 so it can be dipped in the lubricant 14 stored in an interior of an oil pan 5 arranged below the crankshaft 3 and taking in the lubricant 14 in the oil hole 21 so as to attract it along the communication passage 23 following rotation of the balance shaft 1 around the shaft center.
