PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flip-up type gate whose temperature dependence can be eliminated to enable a door to be smoothly opened and closed without causing sudden rotation of arm means and the door regardless of season and even if manual force applied to the door is greater than that normally applied, thereby avoiding disagreeable sounds which may be caused by the collision of the arm means, while also ensuring a long service life and making it possible to keep the door half-open. SOLUTION: The flip-up gate 1 includes posts 2 and 3; arm means 81 and 82 supported against the posts 2 and 3 at one end in such a manner as to be rotatable within a vertical plane; a door 13 attached to the other ends of the arm means 81 and 82; elastic force imparting means 31 and 32 for imparting elastic forces to the arm means 81 and 82 against the weight of the door 13 and the weight of the arm means 81 and 82 and in the direction in which the door 13 is sprung up; and viscous shear resistance imparting means 83 and 84 for imparting viscous shear resistance to the arm means 81 and 82 against the rotation of the arm means 81 and 82 in the direction in which the door 13 falls.
