PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing liquid crystal display device which suppresses an increase in the number of process and does not cause cost-up even when pillar spacers are formed. SOLUTION: A photosensitive resin film 5 is applied on a color filter substrate in a desired film thickness and, thereafter, a flattened resin film part 5a with a desired thickness and a pillar spacer part 5b with a desired height thereon are formed en bloc by one time exposure development by using a photo mask 20 which has a total transmission pattern 20a and a half tone pattern 20b. As a result, an increase in the number of process is suppressed and the cost-up is avoided.
