PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for preparing ceramics or metallic spherical powder which has a shape of almost perfect sphericity by hot plasma and to provide an apparatus therefor. SOLUTION: The method is characterized by heating and melting raw material powder 3 to spheroidize with high-frequency hot plasma 11 and the molten particle is cooled by allowing the particle to fall down through a cooling tower 31 having cooling water sprayed therein from a spray nozzle 46 by allowing the cooling water to flow into an inner wall to prepare the ceramics and the metallic spherical powder 4.
