PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a magneto-optical disk apparatus. CONSTITUTION:A laser diode light emitting optical system 7 and a photodiode light receiving optical system 8 are arranged on the same plane parallel to the surface of a magneto-optical disk 4 and the light beam is bent with a beam splitter 6. Moreover, the direction of the light beam incident on a 45-degree mirror 2 provided at the lower side in the vertical direction of an objective lens from the beam splitter 6 is set less than 90 degrees toward a motor for the direction of the line connecting the motor 3 and the 45-degree mirror 2. Thereby, the apparatus is reduced in the thickness and moreover physical area can be reduced because an optical pickup device can be provided within the projected area of the magneto-optical disk 4. |
