PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a dental handpiece capable of simplification in the manufacture and management of parts and in their assembly process compared with conventional ones. SOLUTION: The dental handpiece is equipped with a bar sleeve to receive a dental treatment instrument, a rotor 14 installed in the bar sleeve to pivot and drive the bar sleeve by means of compressed air, ball bearings 17 and 13 installed upward and downward of the rotor to rotatably support the bar sleeve. The bar sleeve contains a chuck member 30 mounted in a sliding manner to hold the dental treatment instrument in an attachable and detachable manner. In the chuck member, a plurality of nib parts 33 are integrally formed by slits 33b and 33c by way of a thin part 33. In the bar sleeve, a taper part 22a is provided capable of fixing respective nip sections by pressure to the dental treatment instrument by bringing them into contact with its perimeter and allowing them to deflect toward the inside.
