PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a game control method which provides a creative game aiming at the ability improvement of an operation character owned by oneself in a game machine by sufficiently utilizing the advantage and disadvantage of a communication function and which realizes substantializing having improved the ability of the operation character in the game machine in another form in addition, and to provide a storage medium having a program which can be carried out by the method stored thereon and a server. SOLUTION: The game control method realizes adding of the ability of the operation character anytime by using the game machine having a communication means for transmitting and receiving electronic data as communication information and making a display device display the operation character usable for game play within the game. On condition that character information corresponding to the addition of the ability of the operation character is displayed on the display device, electronic data including information of urging imparting of a prize given the operation character added with ability by inputting by a game input means and character information is transmitted as communication information.
