PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a sitting device for a stool as a chair with which a user can easily sit on a stool and stand from a sitting position. SOLUTION: The chair is provided with a pair of side members 2, a chair body 1 in which the side members are connected at a prescribed interval, a frame 28, whose front end in the longitudinal direction is freely rotatably connected to the side up part of the pair of the side members, and a link mechanism 50 connecting the chair body and the frame 28. It is also provided with a handle 46 freely rotatably fitted to the side members and which operates the link mechanism by connecting its one end to the link mechanism and rotating forward and with which a sitting body is rotated in on uprising direction and is moved backward by using the one end of the handle 46 connected to the side members link as a supporting point. Therefore, the handle 46, which goes over without an operation of the link mechanism, is provided. The chair is provided with a gas spring 61 one end of which is fixed to the chair body and the other end is fixed to the sitting body.
