METHOD FOR PRODUCING DOCOSAHEXAENOIC ACID AND DOCOSAPENTAENOIC ACID

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing oils and fats containing docosahexaenoic acid and/or docosapentaenoic acid. SOLUTION: This method includes a process culturing a microorganism belonging to the genus Ulkenia containing the oils and fats containing 40-48% docosahexaenoic acid and 8-13% docosapentaenoic acid, and <=1% of eicosapentaenoic acid, in a culture medium and a process collecting the oils and fats from the culture products. The method is capable of including a process separating the docosahexaenoic acid and/or docosapentaenoic acid from the oils and fats.
