PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for treating waste water capable of highly maintaining performance of a photo-catalyst type waste water treatment apparatus for a long term and of efficiently and continuously treating an organic harmful substance in the waste water. SOLUTION: In the method for treating waste water which decomposes and removes the organic harmful substance in the presence of a photo-catalyst included in a leachate by introducing the leachate from a waste landfill disposal facility, the method comprises a step of continuously or intermittently adding hydrochloric acid to the leachate influent into the photo-catalyst type waste water treatment apparatus 6 so that the pH becomes 5 or less.
