PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve the enhancement of filtering work efficiency and the lowering of filtering treatment cost by reducing the clogging of a filter means without using a scraping member and to form the filter medium of the filter means from a high mesh material having a good aperture ratio to achieve the miniaturization or the like of a filter apparatus as a whole. SOLUTION: The filter means 6 for separating and catching a solid substance from a revolving liquid to be treated is supported in a rotatable manner within a filter tank 1 capable of obtaining the revolving streams of the liquid to be treated and an inflow port 20 allowing the liquid to be treated to flow in the filter tank 1 so as to generate revolving streams is connected to one side of the filter tank 1. An outflow port 21 for allowing a filtrate filtered by the filter means to flow out of the filter tank 1 is connected to the other side of the filter tank 1. A discharge port 22, which discharges the solid substance separated from the liquid to be treated to be moved to the downstream side of the revolving streams from the filter tank 1, is connected to the filter tank 1. The filter means 3 is rotated by a drive means comprising a geared motor 36 or the like so as to increase the cross flow effect to the liquid to be treated on the filter medium 7 of the filter means in the direction reverse to the inflow direction of the liquid to be treated.
