PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair iron which is easy to hold for a user, in the hair iron having a housing of a size which can be housed in the palm. SOLUTION: Upper and lower housings 1 and 2 are formed into a size which can be housed in the palm of the user. A long protruding ridge section 14 extends in the direction to connect a pivotally supported end A and an openable/ closable end B of the housings. Such a protruding ridge section 14 is provided in a manner to face to the outside, on the external surface of at least one of the upper and lower housings 1 and 2. A recessed line section 15 is provided along at least one width end edge of the wide end edges of the protruding ridge section 14.
