PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To change over a rotor from a prescribed braked state to a brake released state without being conscious of changeover operation in a lever brake type spinning reel. SOLUTION: This lever brake type spinning reel is capable of increasing a braking force with a brake mechanism 20 using a shaking brake lever 21. A brake holding part 22 is capable of holding the rotation of a rotor 3 in the line delivering direction in either of a brake released state in which the brake holding part 22 is brought into contact with the brake mechanism 20 to release the brake on the rotation and a prescribed braked state in which the rotation is braked with the prescribed braking force. A returning part 24 is capable of returning the brake mechanism 20 held in the prescribed braked state with the brake holding part 22 to the brake released state by interlocking with the rotation of the rotor 3 in the line delivering direction with a stronger force than the braking force in the prescribed braked state.
