PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simply and strongly join a honeycomb cylindrical body and a housing by welding in a honeycomb type catalyst carrier. SOLUTION: In the honeycomb type catalyst carrier equipped with the honeycomb cylindrical body 2, which is formed by superposing metal flat plates 4 and metal corrugated plates 5 one upon another to spirally wind them closely and joining the mutual contact parts of both plates 4 and 5, and the cylindrical housing 3 fitted to the outer periphery of the honeycomb cylindrical body 2 to hold the cylindrical body 2, the outer peripheral part of the honeycomb cylindrical body 2 is constituted of the outermost peripheral part 4a of the metal flat plates 4 coming into contact with the ridge parts 5a of the metal corrugated plates 5, and the outermost peripheral part 4a of the metal flat plates 4, the metal corrugated plates 5 coming into contact with the inner and outer peripheral surfaces of the metal flat plates 5 and the housing 3 are joined by the common weld bead 8 formed along the peripheral direction of the housing 3. |
