PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hair iron which can prevent hair from being damaged by a heating plate even when the heating plate is manufactured at a lower cost. SOLUTION: One heating plate which is formed by cutting a long raw material for the heating plate by a specified dimension. Then, the heating plate is fitted in one housing in such a manner that cut end surfaces 5 of the heating plate may face to a pivotally supported end A and an openable/closable end B of housings 1 and 2. The other heating plate is formed by cutting the long raw material for the heating plate by the specified dimension. The other heating plate is fitted in the other housing in such a manner that the cut end surfaces 5 of the heating plate may face in the direction being perpendicular to the direction which connects a pivotally supported end A and an openable/closable end B of the housings 1 and 2. Then, respective cut end surfaces 5 are covered by cover sections 7a and 7b which are respectively provided on the upper and lower housings 1 and 2.
