PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid acid catalyst comprising a porous ion exchanger having a specific structure improved in the permeability of gas or a liquid comprising a raw material, a product or a mixture of them while holding sufficiently high catalytic activity. SOLUTION: The solid acid catalyst comprising the porous ion exchanger is characterized in that an open-cell structure having mesopores with a mean diameter of 1-1,000 m is provided in walls of macropores and micropores connected to each other, a total pore volume is 1-50 ml/g, a cation exchange group is uniformly distributed and cation exchange capacity is 0.5 mg equivalent/g dry porous body or more. |
