The mowing machine comprises blades (12) drivable by a combustion engine (1), and a wall (16) provided opposite the blades which lets the exhaust gases originating from the combustion engine escape against the wall via exhaust duct (17). The wall is formed by a shielding element situated above the blade, so that the exhaust gases flow into the operating space (18) of blades situated under the shielding element and partly surrounded. A sound deadening hood can be provided around the exhaust and/or the engine.
