PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a zeolite film which can form a separation membrane having a high treatment speed while a high separation precision is maintained. SOLUTION: Water glass, sodium aluminate, and sodium hydroxide, each in a prescribed amount, are dissolved in distilled water free from dissolved carbon dioxide, and the solution is agitated while nitrogen gas is passed through the solution until the solution is clouded to obtain a reaction solution 11 containing raw material sol (raw material preparation process). A seed material 16 of Y-shaped zeolite is adhered to the surface 14 of a base material composed of a porous body 12 of sintered alumina (seed material adhesion process). The base material is immersed in the reaction solution 11 while a cover 21 of the same porous body 12' is arranged to cover the surface 14. Next, the reaction solution 11 is heated at 90 deg.C for 21 h while nitrogen gas is passed through the solution 11 so that the hydrothermal reaction of the solution 11 takes place in the vicinity of the surface 14 of the base material, and a minute film of Y-shaped crystalline zeolite 13 is deposited on the surface 14 (zeolite generation process).
