PURPOSE: A cap of a shock absorber is provided to prevent the inflow of foreign matters from the lower portion of a dust cover by supporting the lower support end of the dust cover on a cap, to cool the inside of the dust cover, and to perform cooling by contacting a sealing part to air. CONSTITUTION: A cap(150) for protecting a sealing part(112) is installed at the upper end sealing part of an outer pipe(110) of a shock absorber(100). The entire length of a dust cover(140) placed on the upper front end of a piston rod(130) is minimized to receive the cap. The cap has an L-shaped round extension(152) for supporting a support end(144) of the dust cover from a lower portion. Many air inlet holes are formed in the extension. The support end of the dust cover protects the piston rod from foreign matters. The air flowing in through the air inlet holes cools the inside of the dust cover.
