PURPOSE: A method of controlling a mobile communication terminal combined with a remote controller is provided to selectively control various electronic instruments by using a mobile communication terminal from a distance, and to add an infrared transmitter to the mobile communication terminal, thereby remotely controlling the electronic instruments as easily controlling the mobile communication terminal. CONSTITUTION: A controller stands by(100). If a remote control mode conversion key is inputted, the controller accesses a remote control key table set in an internal memory area to perform remote control(104). If a call is received through a forward wireless channel, the controller generates a call alarming signal(124). If an earphone sensing signal is generated, the controller releases a remote control mode in response to the signal, and automatically switches into a speech mode(132). If a text message is received, the controller displays the text message on a display(134). When a charger connection signal is inputted, the controller converts an operation mode into a standby mode(122). If a standby mode conversion key is inputted, the controller generates a standby mode conversion signal to convert into the standby mode(122).
