摘要 PURPOSE: A fringe field switching liquid crystal display device is provided to dispose counter electrodes and pixel electrodes on a same uppermost layer of a lower substrate in a slit structure for minimizing the polarization due to the electrodes in an insulating film. CONSTITUTION: A fringe field switching liquid crystal display device includes an upper substrate with a light shielding layer, a lower substrate formed with thin film transistors and forming a predetermined cell gap with the upper substrate for a liquid crystal layer, data lines(109) disposed longitudinally on the lower substrate, gate lines(103) disposed traversely on the lower substrate to be perpendicular to the data lines for defining unit pixels, common lines(107) formed of traverse parts disposed traversely apart from the gate lines and longitudinal parts disposed longitudinally adjacent to the data lines, thin film transistors(111) disposed in intersections between the gate and data lines, counter electrodes(115) disposed on an uppermost layer of the lower substrate to be connected to the thin film transistors in the unit pixels and having longitudinal body parts(115a) partially overlapping the longitudinal parts of the common lines and branch parts having a plurality of branches disposed in parallel between a plurality of branches of the counter electrodes to divide the unit pixels by half into upper and lower parts, and pixel electrodes(113) disposed on the same layer with the counter electrodes.
