PURPOSE: A swing restricting apparatus of an arm in a lift for repairing a vehicle is provided to improve convenience by swinging the switching arm in releasing in not lifting down a carriage to the lowest position and by restricting swing in not lifting a fitting body up. CONSTITUTION: A swing restricting device(7) is composed of a support rod(7a) supported at the side of an outer cylinder(4a) of a swing arm(4), and a cylindrical fitting body(7b) mounted in the end of a branch part(2a) of a carriage(2). A through hole(9) is formed in the fitting body, and an internal threaded part is formed in the through hole. The fitting body is moved up and down through holes of upper and lower plates(11), and the support rod is inserted to the through hole of the fitting body. An external threaded part(8) is formed around the support rod. Swing is restricted by engaging internal and external threaded parts in slightly lifting the carriage up, and the swing arm is moved by separating the fitting body from the support rod in lifting down to the lowest position.
