PURPOSE: A means for effective prevention and treatment of liver cancer by selectively killing only liver cancer cells without influencing on normal cells using a polymeric aqueous chitosan mixture is provided. Also, injury of the liver, headache and discomfort caused by consumption of alcoholic beverages are extremely reduced. CONSTITUTION: The polymeric aqueous chitosan mixture has an average molecular weight of 20,000 to 2,000,000 and a degree of deacetylation of 90% or more, and is manufactured by reaction of chitosan with hydrolyzing enzyme and then sonication treatment at 10 to 40KHz for 10 to 90min. The food composition for treatment of liver cancer cells contains 0.001 to 10% by weight of the chitosan mixture.
