PURPOSE: A sea-island type conjugate fiber having an optimum level initiation temperature of early shrinkage of raw yarns, maximum thermal stress temperature and maximum thermal stress per denier to reduce degradation of yarn modulus in the process of elution of a sea component and raising is provided. Therefore, the conjugate fiber is minimized in the degradation of physical properties of raw yarns after elusion of the sea component, thereby producing a knitted fabric having an excellent smooth feel and appearance. CONSTITUTION: The sea-island type conjugate fiber is prepared by: spinning an alkali-soluble polymer as a sea component and conventional polyester as an island component to produce a partially oriented yarn; drawing the partially oriented yarn; and winding on a cheese, wherein the fiber simultaneously satisfies the following physical properties: (1) an initiation temperature of early shrinkage of raw yarns is 55 to 90deg.C, (2) a maximum thermal stress temperature of raw yarns is 130 to 160deg.C, and (3) a maximum thermal stress of raw yarns per denier is 0.150 to 0.250g. |
