PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cathode unit and an open type X-ray generator capable of effectively and continuously emitting electrons. SOLUTION: A cathode terminal part CT contains a filament F, a filament support pin 22, a base member 23, a sidewall member 24 and an aperture member 25. The filament supporting pin 22 to which the filament F is electrically connected is fixed on the base member 23. The sidewall member 24 has an opening 24a at the electron-emitting direction side of the filament F, and is provided on the base member 23 so as to surround filament F. The aperture member 25 in a shape of a thin plate in provided on the side wall member 24 so as to cover the opening 24a. The aperture member 25 has an opening 25a at a front side of the electron emitting direction of the filament F. A distance from a surface of the aperture member 25 to a tip of the filament F, under the condition that the sidewall member 24 fixed on the base member 23 be set smaller than the a thickness of the aperture member 25.
