PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital broadcast receiver that allows a user to recognize a receiving state of a selected channel until a picture is displayed after channel selection. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver is provided with a tuner that selects a signal of a desired frequency from a digital broadcast signals from an antenna and with a demodulation and correction section that demodulates the received signal and corrects errors in the signal and detects the receiving state of the received signal. The receiver visually displays the receiving state detected by the demodulation and correction section from the start of channel selection until the end of decoding the video image, and the demodulation correction section detects the receiving state by measuring the strength of signal received by the tuner.
