PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system and receiving method, capable of continuing acceptance processing by preventing system failures, even when a failure is generated, and requesting the confirmation of the received contents, without leaving the requested contents unprocessed. SOLUTION: A customer terminal access a receiving device S1 for making a request for reception. The accepting device A1 stores items received from the customer terminal. When detecting its own failure, the receiving device A1 notifies a monitoring device 5 of the detected result. When receiving the failure notification from the receiving device A1, the monitoring device 5 disconnects the receiving device A1, and instructs a receiving device B2 to take over a task which has been executed by the receiving device a1. The receiving device B2 takes over the task which has been executed by the receiving device a1, and transmits and receives the items received to/from the customer terminal, and transmits the received item contents to the monitoring device 5. The monitoring device 5 transmits the received guide contents received from the receiving device B2 to the customer terminal, and requests the customer terminal to confirm the contents. The customer terminal confirms the received item contents.
