PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multi-carrier communication method and communication apparatus or reducing processing delay, while obtaining STD transmission diversity effect. SOLUTION: An SFTD coding section 10 generates, at least two transmission signals where the frequency arrangement of transmission data digital symbols in time series are adjusted, convert each transmission signal into parallel by serial/parallel conversion sections 11 and 12, and converts to OFDM signal by IDFT sections 13 and 14 and parallel/serial conversion sections 15 and 16 for transmission. In this manner, the use of the multi-carrier transmission system enables coding in a frequency direction, even though coding has been made only in the direction of the conventional time axis conventionally, achieves the same diversity effect as the STTD transmission diversity system, and at the same time, reduces processing delay.
