PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a long-lived control valve type lead-acid battery which hardly causes short circuiting. SOLUTION: Two kinds of separators, mainly composed of glass fiber and having a two-layer structure of a separator (b), having a high fiber density and a separator a3 having a low fiber density and a separator (a) composed mainly of glass fiber and having a low fiber density, are used. Using the separator having the two-layer structure as the separator making contact with the negative electrode plates on both sides of a group of electrodes and the separator (a) as the separators on the inner side thereof, a positive electrode plate 1 and a negative electrode plate 2 are laminated and welded to produce the group of electrodes.
