PURPOSE: A multi-functional robot and a control method thereof are provided to perform a cleaning work with respect to a required area without being interrupted by an obstacle by lifting wheels of the multi-functional robot when the multi-functional robot meets the obstacle. CONSTITUTION: A multi-functional robot(100) includes a camera(110) for capturing an image of peripheral environment and a remote control signal receiving section(120) for receiving a remote control signal. An infrared ray transmitting section(130) transmits a remote control signal for controlling a household appliance. An LCD(140) is provided to display an operation mode and an operation result. A sensor(150) is installed in the multi-functional robot(100) for detecting obstacles. A bumper(160) is provided to dampen shock when the multi-functional robot(100) collides with the obstacle. A speaker(170) outputs a sound signal and a microphone(180) captures the voice of a user.
