PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording and reproducing device including a user friendly reproducing system. SOLUTION: The recording and reproducing device of encoding information and recording the same to a recording medium is recorded with management information including at least one among time information (14b) when the information is encoded, index information (14c) which can be imparted to recording units and a reverse direction pointer (14d) which connects the recording units in a reverse direction in the prescribed management information region disposed at the recording medium.
