PURPOSE: A musical notation tracking method and apparatus is provided to achieve improved convenience for music players by eliminating the necessity of using timer or switch for turning pages of music book during play. CONSTITUTION: A musical notation tracking method, comprises a first step(S110) of producing, from a musical notation information, a frequency model list expected to be played; a second step(S120) of generating a matching model constituted by frequency information expected to be included in a sound information input from an external source, in accordance with the frequency model list; a third step(S130,S140) of converting the wound information into a digital sound and producing a frequency component contained in the digital sound, when the sound information is input from an external source; a fourth step(S150,S160) of judging whether a new frequency component is included in the frequency component; a fifth step(S170,S180) of judging whether the frequency component is matched to the matching model, when it is judged in the fourth step that the new frequency component is included; and a sixth step(S190,S200) of generating synchronous information for playing and musical notation and updating the matching model, if it is judged in the fifth step that the frequency component is matched to the matching model.
