摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-speed optical transmission device that can be coupled easily optically with optical fiber, is reduced in power consumption, and is improved in temperature characteristics. SOLUTION: This optical transmission device is constituted of a substrate and a surface-emission resonant type light-emitting diode, which is set up on the main surface of the substrate and has a light-emitting surface, which emits light almost perpendicular to the main surface. Since the diode emits light at a high speed, is reduced in power consumption, and is improved in temperature characteristics, the characteristics of the optical transmission device are constituted. In addition, since it is not required to take the incidence of reflected light again from the end face of the optical fiber into account at coupling of this device with the fiber, this device can be coupled easily with the fiber. In addition, the constitution of this device can be simplified, and the device is of a surface-emission type and can be set up on the substrate, as it is.
