摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new drive unit (an actuator) capable of concurrent use of an electromechanical transducer and an electroviscous fluid. SOLUTION: This drive unit consists of a driving base 1, a mobile seating section 2, a driving body 3, a power supply section 8, a driving circuit section 9, and a controlling section 10. The mobile seating section 2 is arranged so as to keep a prescribed interval L from the driving base 1. The driving body 3 is arranged between the driving base 1 and the mobile seating section 2 and comprises the electromechanical transducer section 4 and a leg section 5 constituted of a covering shell injected with the electroviscous fluid. The driving circuit section 9 energizes and drives the driving body 3 using the power obtained from the power supply section 8. The leg section 5 of the driving body is formed with the tubular covering shell 6 with flexibility and a high coefficient of friction, and in which the electroviscous fluid 7 is injected and completely sealed. In the leg section 5, one end thereof is brought into contact with the driving base 1 so as to be movable, and the other end thereof is fixed to the electromechanical transducer section 4 in an inclined attitude in a prescribed direction from a contact section.
