PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly and speedily input a desired character even without using a full keyboard. SOLUTION: A plurality of character groups constituted of a representative character and member characters are set and a representative switch group for selecting the representative character and one member switch for selecting the member character are prepared. When the representative character is selected from the representative switch group, the member characters subordinate to the representative character are allocated to the member switch and the representative character is displayed at a display device. Then, every time the member character is selected by the member switch, the member character is displayed at a display device. Also, the KANA (Japanese syllabary)/KANJI (Chinese character) conversion processing of the input character can be performed as needed.
