PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a material structure which can stably seal without fear of short circuiting between a barrier layer of an outer package body and lead wires due to heat and pressure of heat seal, in case of inserting a battery main body into the outer package body having polyolefin system resin as a heat seal layer and sealing by heat seal the peripheral edge of the battery main body. SOLUTION: With the packaging material for the battery with which a battery main body is inserted into an outer package body of a battery composed of at least a substrate layer 11, an adhesive layer 13, aluminum 12 and a sealant layer 14 and its periphery edge is heat sealed, the sealant layer 14 is to include a ring-shaped polyolefin layer S2 .
