PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a synchronization signal generator that can supply a correct synchronization signal to the inside of the generator, even if a synchronization signal supplied externally is missing or is fluctuated. SOLUTION: In the synchronization signal generator, provided with an external synchronization signal detection section 2 for detecting a synchronization signal received externally and with a synchronization signal generating section 4 for generating a synchronizing signal supplied to the inside of the generator, on the basis of the result of detection, the synchronizing signal generator is provided with a window signal generating decoder 8, that generates a window signal for specifying a detection window of the input synchronizing signal and with a synchronization control section 9 that discriminates the synchronization and out of synchronization between the input synchronizing signal and the output synchronizing signal, on the basis of a generating timing of the window signal and the detection timing of the input synchronization signal.
