PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate adjusting of dispersion compensation quantity. SOLUTION: A plurality of cassettes 12, 14, 16 and 18 which can be housed in a rack 10 and are the same size are serially connected. The respective cassettes 12-18 can select a plurality of optical paths. Such selectable optical paths consist of three types of optical paths: an optical path having an arranged optical amplifier, a through optical path and an optical path provided with a various wavelength dispersion values. A combination of the optical paths selected by the respective cassettes determines the dispersion compensation quantity. A first stage cassette 12 is provided with an optical path 20a having an optical amplifier 22 arranged on the optical path 20a. The respective cassettes 12-18 are provided with through optical paths. |
