PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a signal discriminating apparatus, where the signal discrimination result is prevented from becoming a 'voice', during the transmission of, e.g. the modem signal by the V.34 modulation system. SOLUTION: A 2,400 Hz detection portion 4 for detecting 2,400 Hz tone signal from the input signal, the ANSam signal detection portion 5 for detecting the specific signal, used in the start-up procedure of the V.34 modem signal from the input signal and the voice/data discrimination portion 2A for classifying the type of the input signal, based on the outputs of the 2,400 Hz detection portion 4 and the ANSam signal detection portion are provided; and when the specific signal is not been detected, the signal discrimination result in the case where the 2,400 Hz tone signal is detected is made to be the voice state; while in the case where the specific signal has been detected, the signal discrimination result when, where the 2,400 Hz tone signal is detected is not made to be the voice state. |
