PURPOSE: A fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device for removing after-image is provided to form an independent complement storage capacitance and continuously remove residual charges and ions whenever signals are applied to adjacent gate lines by forming a source/drain metal film overlapping common electrodes and adjacent gate lines. CONSTITUTION: A fringe field switching mode liquid crystal display device for removing after-image includes a transparent substrate, gate lines(20a,20b) and data lines(21) intersecting each other on the substrate for defining unit pixel areas, thin film transistors(26) disposed in the intersections between the gate and data liens and formed of gate electrodes, a channel layer and source/drain electrodes, common electrodes(23) and pixel electrodes(27) disposed in the unit pixel areas for forming fringe fields, common electrode lines(25) contacting edges of the common electrodes partially and disposed in parallel to the gate lines and adjacent to a rear gate line, and additional auxiliary capacity forming metal patterns(22) interposed between the common electrodes and the pixel electrodes, electrically insulated from the common electrodes but electrically contacting the pixel electrodes, and overlapping the common electrodes and the rear gate line.
