摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance, in a generation element wherein gas is burned in a porous body made by stacking a large number of sheets of metal foil of two kinds in relation of thermocouple to generate power, the radiant heat absorption factor of the metal foil surfaces and reduce the temperature distribution in a direction perpendicular to the direction of gas flow for the enhancement of thermoelectric conversion efficiency. SOLUTION: A heat-resistant film, high in radiant heat absorption factor, is formed on the surfaces of the sheets of metal foil. The free path of radiation as a porous body is reduced in size in the direction of gas flow and increased in size in the direction perpendicular to the direction of gas flow. More specifically, the height of corrugations formed in the metal foil is increased in the direction of gas flow and reduced in the direction perpendicular to the direction of gas flow. The cycle of corrugations formed in the metal foil may be reduced in the direction of gas flow and be increased in the direction perpendicular to the direction of gas flow. Further, projections long in the direction perpendicular to the direction of gas flow may be formed on the metal foil surfaces. As a result, the efficiency of heat exchange between the solid substance and gaseous substance is enhanced, the free path of radiation as a porous body is shortened, and thus the power generation efficiency is enhanced. Further, as the result of enlarging the free path of radiation in the direction perpendicular to the direction of gas flow, the temperature distribution in this direction is reduced, and the power generation efficiency can be further enhanced.
