PURPOSE: A failure and stop preventive apparatus in starting an engine of an LPG(Liquefied Petroleum Gas) vehicle and a method thereof are provided to prevent engine stop during traveling with bypassing remaining fuel, and to improve maintenance by turning on a warning lamp if a second solenoid valve is short of fuel. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control unit is initialized, and errors are measured until finishing starting by receiving signals from water and pressure sensors. Electronic control is performed by detecting coolant temperature in starting. The flow of a second extra slow duty solenoid valve is read, and the neutral range and the throttle valve are checked. The present flow is compared with the predetermined value in closing the neutral/throttle track. The electronic control is performed normally in case of the flow to be over the reference value. Stop is prevented during traveling, and maintenance is improved with supplying fuel to the second solenoid valve.
