The feeding bottle teat (5) has a nipple (7) and a fastening ring (6) which seals round the open top of a wide-necked bottle (2) and is connected to the teat by a collar (20). The ring can be moved between two stable positions - a retracted position in which it is folded up against the ouyter surface of the teat, and a closed position over the bottle opening (4), sealed against its neck (8). The ring has a semi-toroid shape, with a shoulder (21) inside its inner edge, and the inner diameter of the shoulder's vertical surface is between 95 and 99 per cent of the outer diameter of the aperture. Prior to use the teat can be stowed in the bottom of a bottle, and bottles can be packaged stacked inside one another.
